Personal comment by the author:

This adjustment was made because, within the framework of the CETA free trade agreement between Canada and the EU, there would otherwise have been trade restrictions for the products due to higher maximum residue levels in Canada. The example shows how European regulations can easily be undermined by such agreements in the future, although it must be mentioned that the EU Commission has of course previously ruled out a health risk for the population.
