Testing of Raw Materials and Oilseeds
Testing of Raw Materials and Oilseeds
Oilseeds are the starting point for edible oils, animal feed and biofuels. Their quality is key to both economic value and product safety. We support producers and traders with analytical testing of common oilseeds such as soy, rapeseed or sunflower – according to international standards like FOSFA or QS.
- Oil content, moisture, foreign matter
- Protein content, fatty acid profile (e.g. erucic, oleic, linoleic, linolenic acid)
- Free fatty acids (FFA), GMO status
- Contaminant screening: e.g. heavy metals, mycotoxins, pesticides
Fat-Specific and Nutritional Parameters
Fat-Specific and Nutritional Parameters
Oils and fats are complex food components with specific physicochemical properties. To ensure quality, stability and correct labelling, we analyse key nutritional values, fatty acid profiles and indicators of oxidative stability – tailored to your application and destination market.
- Peroxide value, iodine value and anisidine value
- Fatty acid composition and sterol profile
- Nutritional values including fat-soluble vitamins (e.g. vitamin E)
- Processing quality indicators and blending parameters
Contaminants from Processing or Environment
Contaminants from Processing or Environment
Oils and fats can accumulate residues during processing or through environmental exposure. We test for all relevant contaminants – from MOSH/MOAH and plasticisers to pesticides, dioxins or 3-MCPD esters – using accredited, state-of-the-art methods.
- MOSH/MOAH and PAHs
- 3-MCPD & glycidyl esters
- Phthalates and other plasticizers
- Solvent residues
- PFAS
- Dioxins and PCBs
- Pesticides and ethylene oxide
- Heavy metals
By-Products and Feed Suitability
By-Products and Feed Suitability
By-products such as extraction meals or lecithin are valuable inputs in feed and food production. Our laboratories assess their nutritional composition and contamination status to determine usability and legal compliance across the EU and beyond.
- Mycotoxins
- Contaminants
- Microbiological quality
- Crude protein, fatty acid profile, moisture
- Residual oil content

FOSFA accreditation
Since the beginning of
The Federation of Oils, Seeds and Fats Associations (FOSFA) is a professional international contract issuing and arbitral body concerned exclusively with the world trade in oilseeds, oils and fats with over 1,000 members in 84 countries. These members include producers and processors, shippers and dealers, traders, brokers and agents, superintendents, analysts, shipowners, and others providing services to traders.
FOSFA has an extensive range of standard forms of contracts covering goods shipped either CIF, C&F or FOB, for soybeans, sunflowerseeds, rapeseed, and others, vegetable and marine oils and fats, refined oils and fats, from all origins worldwide, for different methods of transportation and different terms of trade. Internationally, 85% of the global trade in oils and fats is traded under FOSFA contracts.
