Animal species differentiation - range extended again

Our PCR team at AGROLAB LUFA in Kiel has developed a new animal species detections. We can now also detect kangaroo (family: Macropodidae).

A singleplex real-time PCR for the detection of kangaroo DNA now complements the comprehensive animal species screening programme of AGROLAB LUFA GmbH.

In the food sector the high-quality kangaroo meat (low-fat and high-protein) can be acquired for some time now in wholesale markets, market halls in larger cities or on the Internet. It is similar in texture and taste to domestic game meat, which is why mislabelling can be expected, especially in meat preparations. The processing of kangaroo meat is also increasing in the pet food sector.

With AGROLAB LUFA's extended range of animal species analytics you can now have the lists of ingredients and specifications of food and pet food reliably checked for the use of kangaroo meat.
