Just a month ago, we reported here that VION FOOD was closing its sites in Waldkraiburg and Crailsheim.

Now a third major production site in Buchloe (Bavaria) is to follow. According to press reports, an agreement has been signed to sell the site to the Irish-based company ABP. ABP is a leading beef processor in Ireland, Europe and the United Kingdom. Most recently, around 90,000 cattle were processed annually by 270 employees in Bavaria.The negotiated “asset deal” ensures that the Buchloe site will remain fully operational until the transaction is completed and that customers and suppliers will not be adversely affected. Antitrust approval is still pending.
