Schlachthof Rind

The two meat giants signed an agreement to work together in northern Germany.

Vion plans to close its slaughterhouse in Bad Bramstedt at the end of July. A decline in the volume of slaughtered cattle had led to this decision. The resulting gap will be filled by competitor Danish Crown from 1 August 2023 on behalf of Vion Zucht-Nutzvieh GmbH.

Up to 1000 cattle are to be slaughtered every week via the Danish Crown Group's slaughterhouses in Husum and Teterow. The other VION deboning and processing plants will take over the further processing of the cattle halves or quarters.

This is good news for the cattle farmers in the region.

The cows, young bulls and calves might see it differently.
