Expansion of the Institut Koldingen GmbH – closer affiliation with the AGROLAB GROUP after name change

The growth of the AGROLAB GROUP has lead to plans to set up a new facility for the Institut Koldingen GmbH with an additional 2,300m² laboratory space next year in Kiel.

A further 50 employees will also help improve the service quality.

These plans will also include renaming the 'Institut Koldingen' into 'AGROLAB Agrar and Umwelt GmbH' to reflect its closer affiliation with the AGROLAB GROUP.

From a regional ground examination institute to a European provider of analysis services

The company Institut Koldingen GmbH began as the ground examination institute Koldingen Dr. H. v. Rohr GmbH & Co.KG in 1946. At that time it was a novelty to offer laboratory examinations to private customers.  Today, almost 70 year later, the wide range of analysis services provided by Institut Koldingen GmbH are available throughout Europe.

Milestones of the Institut Koldingen GmbH

There were two decisive milestones in the company's successful history. In 1999 the institute was taken over by the AGROLAB GROUP. This went hand-in-hand with a huge reorganisation and modernisation program within the company which focussed in particular on database-supported processing and analysis of the measuring results. At this time the site in Großburgwedelhad around 900 m² of laboratory space. By 2005 the growth of the group in general had also impacted on the Institut Koldingen GmbH and consequently, one year later, the institute moved to new premises in Sarstedt with a total floor space of approx. 2,000 m².

In the meantime The AGROLAB GROUP and the Institut Koldingen GmbH have undergone rapid growth which is why a new facility for the Institut Koldingen GmbH will be opened in Kiel in 2016 offering a further 2.300 m² of laboratory space and jobs for 50 further employees. As a result, AGROLAB GROUP will be able to increase its capacities both in Sarstedt and also in Kiel, and improve its service quality.

Affiliation to the AGROLAB GROUP is demonstrated

To reflect this pleasing development and demonstrate that the Institut Koldingen GmbH and the AGROLAB GROUP are one unit, the name of the institute has now been changed 70 years after it was founded and 16 years after joining the AGROLAB GROUP.

The new company name will be AGROLAB Agrar and Umwelt GmbH; its success story can continue.
