Olive oil

In August 2018, GMP+ published the new appendix GMP+ BA7 as a supplement to the previous requirements. Our AGROLAB GROUP laboratories, acknowledged by the GMP+, will support you in the quality assurance of your oils, fats and their by-products.

GMP+ is a fully-fledged international certification system. It specifies requirements to guarantee the safety of feed.

Alongside the previously published requirements, GMP+ published the new appendix, GMP+ BA7, in August 2018. This contains specific demands for a range of by-products from the oil and fat industry. Among other things, the new appendix defines the following parameters which are to be analysed:

  • Fatty acid profile
  • Moisture and impurities
  • Free fatty acids
  • Melting point
  • Dioxins, dioxin-like PCBs, non-dioxin-like PCBs
  • Pesticides
  • Heavy metals (arsenic, cadmium, mercury, lead and nickel)
  • Mineral oil
  • PAHs

The aim of these new requirements is to increase the feed safety of these by-products when it comes to processing them for use as feed.

You can find more information about the specific requirements, as well as a detailed list of the by-products, directly in the corresponding appendix at the following link:

Supplementary analysis: MOSH and MOAH in oils/fats

In addition to the parameters which are relevant for GMP+, our AGROLAB Dr. Verwey Laboratory in Barendrecht also inspects your product for MOSH and MOAH residue. Contamination through mineral oils can have various causes and, for example, be traced back to the packaging of the oilseeds. European legislation does not yet stipulate a maximum limit for these contaminants, however, recommendations do already exist on the part of individual countries. Please feel free to speak to our sales representatives with regards to this and other analyses. They will help you in determining the inspections appropriate for you.
