Expositionsabschätzung für Methylquecksilber
Die jüngste Expositionsabschätzung des Bundesinstituts für Risikobewertung (BfR) für Methylquecksilber hat keine Änderungen gegenüber früheren Bewertungen ergeben. Nach wie vor sind Dornhai (Schillerlocken) und Schwertfisch die Fischarten mit dem höchsten Risiko für eine Belastung mit Methylquecksilber. Auch Heilbutt ist tendenziell höher belastet als andere Seefische, allerdings wird der TWI (total weekly intake) erst nach drei Mahlzeiten pro Woche überschritten.
Expositionsabschätzung zu Nickel
In einer weiteren Studie ist das BfR der Frage nachgegangen, ob der Verzehr von Meeresalgen, z. B. in Form von Sushi, zu einer erhöhten bzw. gesundheitlich bedenklichen Aufnahme von Nickel führen kann. Für Nickel liegt die tolerierbare tägliche Aufnahmemenge (TDI) bei 13 µg/kg Körpergewicht pro Tag. Algen werden in Deutschland jedoch nur von wenigen Menschen und dann auch nur in geringen Mengen verzehrt, so dass die Behörde kein Gefährdungspotenzial sieht.

Exposure assessment for methylmercury
The latest exposure assessment of the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) for methylmercury has not shown any changes compared to previous assessments. Spiny dogfish and swordfish are still the fish species with the highest risk of exposure to methylmercury. Halibut also tends to be more contaminated than other sea fish, although the TWI (total weekly intake) is only exceeded after three meals per week.
Exposure assessment for nickel
In a further study, the BfR investigated the question of whether the consumption of seaweed, e.g. in the form of sushi, can lead to an increased or harmful intake of nickel. The tolerable daily intake (TDI) for nickel is 13 µg/kg body weight per day. However, algae are only consumed by a few people in Germany and then only in small quantities, so that the authorities do not see any potential risk.

Das BfR (Bundesinstituts für Risikobewertung) hat ein neues Tool entwickelt, mit dem die Behörden nach einer Kontamination von Futtermitteln schneller simulieren können, wie lange es dauert und wie stark in der Folge tierische Lebensmittel ebenfalls kontaminiert werden. Das Programm „Contaminant Transfer Predictor“ („ConTrans“) basiert auf experimentellen Daten vergangener Vorfälle und simuliert mit komplexen mathematischen Verfahren mögliche Risikoszenarien. Es ersetzt nicht regelmäßige Überwachungsmaßnahmen, sondern soll im Ernstfall Entscheidungen beschleunigen.

Computer programme "ConTrans" simulates the transfer of contaminants from animal feed to food
The BfR (Federal Institute for Risk Assessment) has developed a new tool that enables the authorities to simulate more quickly how long it will take after a contamination of animal feed and to what extent animal food will also be contaminated as a result. The "Contaminant Transfer Predictor" ("ConTrans") programme is based on experimental data from past incidents and uses complex mathematical procedures to simulate possible risk scenarios. It does not replace regular monitoring measures, but is intended to speed up decisions in the event of an emergency.

Italien verbietet Herstellung und Verkauf von Laborfleisch
Die Herstellung eines kleinen, saftigen Steaks im Labor ist mit Hilfe komplizierter Zellkulturtechniken aus Stammzellen von Rindern zwar bereits möglich, doch mit dem Verbot der Herstellung und des Verkaufs dieses Fleischprodukts ist die italienische Ministerpräsidentin weit über das Ziel hinausgeschossen. Die Herstellung von „Laborfleisch“ wird auf absehbare Zeit so teuer sein, dass kein Italiener und keine Italienerin vor der Wahl stehen wird, ein Stück Fleisch vom heimischen Rind oder aus dem HiTech-Labor zu kaufen. Was also soll das Gesetz bewirken? Darüber rätseln nicht nur die Experten. Aber für ein paar Schlagzeilen für Frau Meloni, um von wichtigeren Themen abzulenken, hat es ein paar Tage lang gereicht, bevor das Gesetz still und heimlich von der EU-Kommission kassiert werden wird.

Italy bans production and sale of lab-grown meat
Although it is already possible to produce a small, juicy steak from bovine stem cells in the laboratory using complicated cell culture techniques, the Italian Prime Minister has gone too far by banning the production and sale of this meat product. For the foreseeable future, the production of 'laboratory meat' will be so expensive that no Italian will have the choice of buying a piece of meat from a domestic cow or from a high-tech laboratory. So, what is the law supposed to achieve? It's not just the experts who are puzzling over it. But it was enough for Ms Meloni to grab a few headlines and distract attention from more important issues for a few days, before the law was quietly and secretly scrapped by the EU Commission.
